What is the best deep sea fishing rod and reel combo?

I work retail and this guy came in asking if we could order deep sea fishing rod & reel he didn’t know what kind but said give him some names of a few good ones my mgt of course gave me the tasks of finding this info and so I come to you asking what are some good sturdy deep sea fishing rod&reels???

It varies a whole lot depending on what part of what ocean he’s going to be fishing in, and what he’s going to be fishing for. And whether he wants a spinning, conventional, or trolling outfit. Give as many details as you can.
The obvious answer (good tackle, but not really “best”) is an appropriate sized Ugly Stik paired with a Penn reel. But there are lots of sizes and styles of both.
ADD:
For the “best” you could go with high-end reels from Penn or Shimano, and custom rods from any number of manufacturers — specific models and features depend on where you’re fishing and what kind of fish. You use different tackle for Alaskan halibut, Hawaiian marlin, Mexican tuna, or whatever.
GMB: I suspect that the store this person works at doesn’t normally sell saltwater tackle — otherwise the store would have it in stock. Asking for advice is better than cluelessly making things up or believing the ads & BS on the internet.
